Oil and Pipeline Association: Thanckes Oil Fuel Depot

Our principal contractor VolkerStevin was commissioned through the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to construct a new jetty and other facilities at the site – the largest naval base in western Europe.

These works formed part of a major upgrade programme to modernise the oil fuel depots in Devonport and Portsmouth to service the fuelling of the naval fleet in both ports.

The Thanckes Oil Fuel Depot is a highly complex and secure environment with strict governance around explosive materials and ignition sources.

Working on behalf of our client, the Oil and Pipeline Association, we were selected due to our status as the defence sector’s trusted partner thanks to the depth and coverage of our services and our ability to manage secure data and work within security parameters.
